Why is the Import button grayed out?

Applies To

PENTA for Windows > Project Management > Estimates > Estimate Worksheet

Microsoft Excel

Resolution/Fix/Answer

There could be a number of reasons why the import fails, here are some of the more frequent reasons:

  • Prior to Importing, ensure your mouse cursor/blue focus indicator is in the Batch header block, if it is not, the Import button will be grayed out
  • The Job already exists on the batch trying to import to
    • Delete the Job form the middle section of the screen and then put focus next to the Job again and import

  • The field labels have been removed or are incorrect from the Excel File
    • See the PENTA Reference Manual (available on Help drop down on Menu bar) for information on field labels (Project Management > Window Descriptions > Estimate Worksheet Import)
    • Make sure the start_detail label identifies the first Costcode row to load
      • Highlight the first row and type in start_detail then hit Enter key to lock in the field label

  • The Excel file is opened
    • Always Save and Close the Excel file prior to import

  • Duplicate Field Labels exist
    • Open the Name Manager
    • Delete all existence of the duplicate labels and then add back the label in the correct cell, column, or row

  • Confirm the Date field is in the Date Format
