After a year has been closed, can I delete accounting periods for that year?

Finance & Accounting > Setup > Organization Units > Accounting Periods

Resolution/Fix/Answer

Despite the fiscal year being closed, the accounting periods cannot be deleted to maintain the history behind the prior year transactions. If a record was incorrectly setup, and needs to be removed, please submit a Service Desk ticket and reference this article.
