Is there a method for just changing the Work Status Code on a piece of Equipment without having to initiate a miscellaneous transfer? Or should it just be "returned" and then transferred back once it is being used?

No, there is no method for just changing the Work Status Code on a piece of Equipment without initiating a transfer. However, you don't need to transfer the piece of equipment out of its job location and then back in order to change the Work Status Code. You would simply use the "Equipment Transfers - Miscellaneous" window and keep the "To Location" and the "From Location" as the same. 

Here are step-by-step instructions for changing the Work Status Code on a piece of equipment that is already located on the job site:

1) Equipment Cost Control > Equipment Charging - Rental Basis > Movement Entry > Equipment Transfers - Miscellaneous 

2) Enter in the "Trans Date" (What date did the asset move? Treat this as your "Start Date")

3) Enter in "Equipment ID" (Your fixed asset)

Once you enter in the "Equipment ID" you will notice the "FROM LOCATION" box will populate with the fixed asset's current location

4) Under "TO LOCATION" enter in the "Job ID" (Enter in the same "Job ID" where the equipment is currently located)

5) Enter in "CT"

6) Enter in "Costcode"

7) Under "ST", click "..." and select a status for the fixed asset

8) Close the window
