How can I create a credit memo for a customer without tying it to an invoice?

Is it possible to create a credit memo for a customer without tying it to an invoice? 

How do we create a credit memo without an invoice?

Resolution/Fix/Answer

Penta will not allow a credit memo to be created without an Invoice to associate with.

If a credit memo needs to be entered and there is no invoice to reference:

• Create the credit memo document outside of Penta (via MS Word, etc.)
• Create and post a negative billing entry via the  Manual Billing Entry window.
