Labor Cost Type Hierarchy For Mobile Field Service (MFS) Payroll Timecards

Issue/Symptom/Question

MFS allows a default cost type for labor in various places, but we cannot see where to allow entry of a DIFFERENT cost type than the default during the process of status change, specifically for labor. Is there an option somewhere that needs to be changed to allow a deviation from the default?

Environment

Penta for Windows

Mobile Field Service

Service Management >  Setup > Configuration > Work Order Status Codes

Service Management >  Mobile Field Service > Configuration > Mobile Service Configuration - Status Rules

Payroll > Time Entry > Time/Equipment/Production Units Entry

System Management > Technical Support > Options > System Option 242

Resolution/Fix/Answer

MFS Technicians are not allowed to enter/update their cost type codes in MFS, these are set up via Service Management > Setup > Work Order Status Codes. The status codes set up in the Work Order Status Codes window, are pulled into the Service Management > Mobile Field Service > Configuration > Mobile Service Configuration - Status Rules. Once in this window, the Default Mobile Cost Type can be updated for each of the different statuses. These cost type codes will then be imported into Penta via the TEP Import Mobile process.

With System Option 242 - Allow Cost Type w/Time Entry set to Y, users are able to update the cost type before or after imported via Payroll > Time Entry > Time/Equipment/Production Units Entry.
