These installation instructions assume you have already downloaded the iso image to the machine you will be connecting to the server console from. Boot the server using the iso image.
These instructions begin with the following screen. Choose the default language of English and click on Continue.
Â
You now see the main screen for the installation. Click on 1) Date & Time.
You will see the following screen. Choose the correct Time Zone and click on Done.
You will be brought back to this main screen. Now click on 2)Â Network & Host Name.
The following screen appears. 1) On the left-hand side, you will see the different networks available on your server. Choose the one you will be using. 2) Enter the fully qualified hostname. 3) Click on On. 4) Click on Configure.
The following screen appears. Choose 1) IPv4 Settings. 2) Click on the Add button and enter the IP, Netmask, and Gateway for the server. 3) Enter the DNS servers 4) Enter the Search domain 5) click on Save

1) Choose the disks you wish to install by clicking on them. When you choose the disk, it will have a checkmark on it. 2) Click on ‘I will configure partitioning. 3) Click on Done.
When you create the file systems you will want to look at your current server to decide how big you want to make them on this server. You will want to leave room for growth.
On this screen 1) click on the blue ‘Click here to create them automatically'.
This will create the following file systems which include the boot device. 1) Standard partition will be used for /boot only (no action needed) 2) It defaults to putting most of the space in /home. You will want to change this to what your current server has. If you do not have a current server, start at 1G for /home.
3) Now click on the + sign to add more file systems.
This is an example.
On this screen, you can see the filesystems that we have created and their sizes. The ones you will want to create that are required for PENTA (in the image) are:
/opt/app/penta – PENTA executables and logs reside here
/u01 – oracle installed here
/u02 – oracle databases reside here
/u03 – oracle controlfile/redo logs ( you may have your database backups write here or under the /u04 filesystem)
/u04 – oracle database backups (go here unless you are coming from a current PENTA installation that has them in the /u03 filesystem)
1) Notice the available and total space as you create the file systems. 2) When you have configured all the file systems, click on Done.
This screen appears, click on Accept Changes.
This screen appears, you can click on Begin Installation.
On this screen click 1) Root Password and enter the root password. 2) Do NOT add any users. These will be done later.
Click on Reboot and the install is complete.
You should now be able to ssh to this new Linux server.
