Service Technician Self Scheduling Work Orders
Issue/Symptom/Question
How does a Service Tech schedule his own work using the Mobile Field Service device?
Applies To
PENTA for Windows
Service Management>Scheduling>Service Dispatch - Task Based (Web)
Mobile Field Service device>My Work List
Mobile Field Service device>My Schedule
Resolution/Fix/Answer
Steps for Self-Scheduling:
- Navigate to the Service Management>Scheduling>Service Dispatch - Task Based (Web) window and determine which Work Orders to assign to your Technicians. For Technicians that you want to allow them to 'self-schedule' their own work, the dispatcher would NOT assign a Schedule Date when assigning the Work Order to the Technician. Leaving it blank allows the Technician on his device to schedule when he plans to work on it.
When the Work Order appears on his device, It appears in his Work List with no Schedule Date.
- To schedule the work, the Technician would go to the Dashboard and select My Schedule which allows the Technician to see the Scheduling window on the device
- Within the Scheduling window, select a Schedule Date and optionally enter the Estimated Hours and a Due Date for this Work Order
NOTE: The Technician also has the ability to ‘Unschedule’ a Work Order even if the dispatcher assigned a Schedule Date/Time to it.
