Setting up voluntary fringes using fringe benefit authorization
Setting up voluntary fringes using fringe benefit authorization
Issue/Symptom/Question
How can I set up voluntary fringes in a payroll class so some employees receive a fringe benefit but others in the same level do not?
Applies To
- PENTA for Windows
- Payroll > Pay Groups, Payroll Classes and Workers Compensation > Payroll Classes
- Payroll>Employees>Employee Fringe Benefit Authorization
Resolution/Fix/Answer
- Navigate to the Payroll Class window
- Query back the Payroll Class
- Update the ‘Req. Emp. Auth (Y/N)?” field to be ‘Y’ as shown below. When this field is set to ‘Y’, by default, employees assigned to this payroll class/pay rate combination will NOT have this fringe calculated
- Navigate to the Employee Fringe Benefit Authorization window
- Select an employee that is subject to this fringe from the list of values button.
- Enter the Payroll Class, Fringe Benefit Number, and check the fringe as ‘Authorized’. This employee is now authorized and will receive the fringe benefit
