Setup required to allow technicians to Create PO's on the Device (MFS)

What is the setup in PENTA (PFW) required to allow technicians to create PO's on the device.

Resolution/Fix/Answer

To allow technicians to create PO's on the device (MFS) you will need to do the following setup:

  1. Open the Mobile Field Service - Configuration screen in PENTA for windows.
  2. In the Field POs tab check the 'Allow technicians to create Field Purchase Orders' checkbox. 
  3. Enter a valid cost type in the 'Default cost type on field PO line items' field. 
    1. NOTE: It is recommended you select a Cost Type that is valid for all Service Types used on the device. If the Default Cost Type assigned is not valid for a Service Type on the device, the create PO process will fail.
  4. Close the screen or change tabs to commit the change.
  5. Open the Define Users screen and navigate to the Mobile Tab. Change the 'Allow creation of field POs (Y/N)' to be 'Y'. 
    1. NOTE: This value will default to 'Y'. If you do not want a technician to have the ability to create POs in the field change the value to 'N'.

  6. When a technician logs into the device they will now have a new menu item in the dashboard labeled 'Manage Purchase Orders' which will allow them to create and manage Purchase Orders on the device.


  1. Open the Mobile Field Service - Configuration screen in PENTA for windows.
  2. In the General tab check the 'Provide popup message when "Send an email of the summary" field is marked as no' checkbox. 
  3. Close the screen or change tabs to commit the change.
