SOC Code Error during generation of Quarterly Wage Report for Indiana (IN)

SOC Code Error during generation of Quarterly Wage Report for Indiana (IN)

Issue/Symptom/Question

I encountered the below error when processing the Electronic Quarterly Wage Reporting for the state of Indiana. How do I get this resolved?

ERROR: The following Indiana employees do not have a Standard Occupational Classification Code (SOC Code) entered for the Title # associated with the Pay Rate Information of their Payroll Class current as of the Quarter End Date (or they do not have a Title # assigned). Indiana requires the SOC Code. Enter the missing SOC Codes for these employees' Title #s (or assign a Title # to employees without one) before running the Electronic Quarterly Wage Reporting process for Indiana.

Applies To

PENTA for Windows

Create Electronic Quarterly Wage Report:

Payroll > Quarterly Reporting >Electronic Quarterly Wage Reporting

Setup Employee Title and SOC Code:

Payroll > Employees > Other Employee Attributes > Employee Titles

Assign Employee Title:

Payroll > Employees > Employee Payroll Information > Pay Rate tab

Resolution/Fix/Answer

  • Review the Employee ID and Payroll Class that is causing the error
  • Navigate to the Employee Payroll Information > Pay Rate tab
  • If the Title # is missing - add the Title #: associated with this Payroll Class and Pay Rate
  • Navigate to Payroll > Employees > Other Employee Attributes > Employee Titles and verify the Title # has an associate SOC Code
