Non Work Order Assignment Authorization Failure

Issue/Symptom/Question

One of our users is unable to assign a Non-Productive task to the Service Techs. Error received:

Authorization Failure - You are not authorized to view Task XXXXX

Applies To

PENTA for Windows

Assign Non-Productive Task:

Service Management > Scheduling > Service Dispatch - Task Based OR Service Management > Scheduling > Service Dispatch - Time Based

Review Employee OU:

Payroll > Employees > Employee Payroll Information

Review/Update Non-Productive Task OU Authorization:

Service Management > Setup > Non-Productive Tasks - Edit OU List... pop-up window

Resolution/Fix/Answer

Review the Organizational Unit (OU) authorization for the employee associated with BOTH the user entering the Non-Productive task AND the Technician being assigned the task. If the OU is not included in the Authorized OUs list in Non-Productive Tasks > Edit OU List... pop-up window, add using the path above.

Follow the instructions below to change OU Authorization: 

  1. Un-check Authorized For All OUs
  2. Click on Edit OU List... to open pop-up window
  3. Select an OU from Available OUs to add to the Authorized OUs side
  4. Click on the single arrow to move the OU 
    1. To remove authorization click the bottom arrow to move the OU back to Available OUs

Cause 

OU authorization for Technician was not added to the Non-Productive Task.
