Penta Balancing Program
Issue/Symptom/Question
What does initiating a balancing routine do? How often should I complete this?
Applies To
System Management > Balancing
Resolution/Fix/Answer
Within Penta's system management module, Penta offers balancing routines/reports which can be used to ensure your ledger is always in agreement with your subledger. Balancing reports can be ran by module or you can choose to run the Complete Balancing Routine which initiates this process for all modules. It is recommended customers run the Initiate Complete Balancing Routine at least once a year as part of your year end close process. Optionally it can be run monthly as well. Please note not all users of Penta will have access to these routines. Please contact your internal system administrator if you feel you should have access but do not.
Once the process kicks off, the screen will notify you if there are any balancing issues identified. If balancing issues do exist, the system will automatically create an error report which can be located in the Report Monitor Print and View window for the user that initiated the process. At this point, please submit a service desk ticket including the error report, so the Penta support team can troubleshoot.Â
CauseÂ
Balancing errors are rare, but can occur due to unauthorized or authorized direct data changes completed outside of standard Penta processes, or software bugs.
