Using FileZilla to Access Files Stored on the PENTA Server
Issue/Symptom/Question
How can I find and transfer a file from the PENTA Linux Server to my local computer?
Applies To
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) a file from the PENTA Server
Resolution/Fix/Answer
When on the Remote Desktop, click on the Start Menu and type in Filezilla in the search.
Right click on the FileZilla application, select Pin to Taskbar
Click on the Desktop icon to go back to the desktop
Find FileZilla on the Taskbar and click on it, if there is a popup, click OK or Close
Go to File > Site Manager, then select New Site in the popup
OR click on this Icon and New Site
Enter the hostname or the IP address of the Linux server into the Host field
Change the Port to 22
Change the Protocol to: SFTP
Change the Logon Type to Normal
Enter the User - The Server User Id for the PENTA User who created the file (found on the Define User Setup)
Enter the Password - The Server User Id Password
Click Connect (if there is a popup, click OK or Save)
Note, the User and Password may change in the future and Penta will provide them
Should see something like the image below after connecting. Select Desktop on the left to transfer files to the Remote Desktop’s Desktop and then copy and paste to the local computer, if needed. Also, it might be possible to transfer directly to the local computer, depending on the network connected to and the drives mapped to the Remote Desktop.
When ready to transfer the file created, find the Filename, click, drag, and drop from the right side (PENTA) to the left side.
Here FileZilla added the file to the desktop when dropping the file on the left side. The file can be deleted from the server by right clicking and selecting Delete on the filename on the right side, or leave it until the file is submitted successfully (just in case it is needed again) and then delete the file off the server.
