Granting access to a Crystal Report

Granting access to a Crystal Report

Issue/Symptom/Question

How do I restrict or grant access to a crystal report?

Applies To

  • PENTA for Windows
  • System Management
  • Security Groups
  • PENTA Web Reporting Module

Resolution/Fix/Answer

Access to Crystal Reports is granted at the Security Group level.

To view a User's authorized Security Groups, follow these steps:

1) System Management > Security > Define Users

2) Query the User ID

You can view the User's authorized Security Groups under "GROUP AUTHORIZATION"

To assign a User to a specific Crystal Report, follow these steps:

1) System Management > Security > Security Groups

2) Query the existing Security Group that is already assigned to the user

3) Click on Module Folder, then the Crystal Reports Folder and locate the specific report within a selected module

4) Remove the red "X" next to the repot name by double clicking it or grant access to the entire folder by clicking the folder and Allow All

5) Close the window to save your changes

Note: If using version 21.2 or higher and the PENTA Web Reporting Module, then the Crystal Reports will show under the Report Security Tab and can be deleted from the PENTA Menu, if desired.
