Prior Period Overtime Hour Conversion
Issue/Symptom/Question
When the Gross Pay Report is run overtime hours from the prior payroll period are appearing on the report even though the timecards are not entered in the batch (as of a work date in the prior period). It appears as though PENTA is re-converting the hours in accordance with the automatic overtime rules for hours worked in that prior period.
Applies To
PENTA for Windows → Payroll → Time Entry → Gross Pay Report
PENTA for Windows → Payroll → Centralized Payroll Check Processing → Centralized Gross Pay Report
PENTA for Windows → Payroll → Setup → Pay Groups, Payroll Classes and Worker Compensation → Pay Groups
Resolution/Fix/Answer
This situation will occur when there is a mismatch between the Period Ending Dates defined in the Pay Group Pay Periods Dates block and the Workweek Ending Day in the Overtime rules popup window. For example, if the Period Ending Dates are setup for a Sunday and the Overtime rules are setup for a Saturday, when a Gross Pay Report is run for a payroll period where there were overtime hours recorded for the Sunday date of the prior pay period, PENTA will apply the overtime rules to the Sunday hours and possibly reclassify them. Even though these hours were in a prior period.Â
Updating the Overtime rules setting the Workweek Ending Day to be consistent with the Period Ending Date week ending day will eliminate this from happening.
Â
CauseÂ
The week ending date per the Period Ending Date field defined in the Pay Group window, Pay Periods Dates block is different than the Workweek Ending Day defined in the Overtime rules popup window. If the week ending date per the Pay Period Dates is a Sunday then the Workweek Ending Day for the overtime rules should also be a Sunday.
