PROD_H Backup Does Not Complete
PROD_H Backup Does Not Complete
Issue/Symptom/Question
A RMAN database oracle backups is not completing
Applies To
RMAN Oracle Backups
Linux
Resolution/Fix/Answer
When a RMAN backup starts it writes a lock file to /tmp called backup-database.63229-$SID
($SID is replace by the actual database i.e. backup-database.63229-PROD_H)
If the backup is killed for some reason while running, it will leave this lock file in the /tmp directory and so when it tries to start another backup for the database it fails.
If this happens again, and the backups will not start, just remove the file in /tmp.
