Federal and State Tax Changes

The tax kit will include changes issued prior to December 13, 2024. These changes are date sensitive and affect tax calculations on the appropriate date.

W-2 Program Changes

PostScript laser form layouts compatible with 2024 requirements. (PENTA supports only PostScript laser forms for printing W-2's)

Electronic/magnetic media formats compatible with 2024 state requirements.
Electronic filing formats compatible with 2024 requirements of select localities.

Adjusting Entries

Make adjusting entries, such as those done via the Initial Load and Other Compensations window, prior to the last pay run of the year so PENTA can self-adjust FICA, MEDI, SDI, and SUI taxes during a subsequent 2024 pay run. Refer to Section 6 "Make Adjustments & Entries" of the 2024 End of Year Payroll Guide for additional information.

State W-2 Filing

States generally require that tax and other identification numbers be included in W-2 files. Ensure that values entered in the state Tax Information window include all the tax ID components required for the state.
