Issue/Symptom/Question

While processing payroll, and during the Create Payroll Check File process, I received the below error message:

Error detected. Please call your Penta account representative.

Check # is too large for Bank ######## & Bank Account ############

Create Payroll Check File (Payroll>Payroll Check Processing>Create Payroll Check File)

Create Check Files for Multiple Pay Groups (Payroll>Centralized Payroll Check Processing>Create Check Files for Multiple Pay Groups)

Bank Account Numbers (Finance & Accounting>Setup>Bank Information>Bank Account Numbers)

Resolution/Fix/Answer

• This error will occur when the next check number assigned, has more characters, than the number of characters defined in the Aux On Us field in the Bank Account Numbers window.
• To correct this, you will need to add at least one 'n' in the Aux On Us field to allow for the full check number to be printed on the MICR line of the check. 
• One you have done this, re-start the Create Check File process and it should complete successfully.
