Employee with Multiple Classifications
Issue/Symptom/Question
How can I setup an Union Employee that may have multiple payroll titles/classifications?
Example:
An employee may work as a Journeyman on Job 100, but as a Foreman on Job 200.
Applies To
PENTA for Windows
Payroll > Employees > Employee Payroll Information
Resolution/Fix/Answer
- For union employees, hourly rates, fringes, etc. should typically be maintained in the Payroll Class window.
- Because of this, there is no need to assign every possible payroll class/pay rate combination that the employee 'could' work.
- Instead, assign the employee to their most frequently used pay rate # (Journey or Foreman for example).
- If an employee is setup as a Foreman, but on a specific job, the employee works as a Journeyman, users entering timecards have the ability to override the employee's pay rate # to the Journeyman #.Â
- NOTE: Even though the Journeyman # is not assigned to the employee in the Employee Payroll Information window, PENTA will pay the employee at the Journeyman rate and fringe package.
