Report Initiation window - Default Host Error

Issue/Symptom/Question

When trying to enter a report to process, Penta gives error:

  • The default host you have set up is not valid.  The default host is the name of the server on which the reports will be run.  This is set up in the 'Preferences' window of the of the Report Initiation window

Applies To

  • PENTA for Windows
  • PENTA Reports > Report Initiation
  • Legacy Reports
  • Report Initiation window'  File/User Preferences/Window/Defaults/Default Host

Resolution/Fix/Answer

  • Check to see there is a Default Host entered in User Preferences: Click on User Preferences > Window > Defaults tab

  • If the default host was entered correctly, then PENTA might not recognize it because the SYP105 process was not running.
  • If you have permission to log into the Linux server as the penta operating system user, see: Default host is invalid error when running reports for resolution.
  • Otherwise, please submit a Service Desk ticket and reference this article.

Cause

Occasionally during database refreshes the SYP105 process will stop running causing this type of error.
