401k Match deduction doesn't run more than once per period
Issue/Symptom/Question
Employee's regular payroll runs correctly with 401k deduction and Employer Match. However, when I run (4) 'Vacation Checks' for the same payroll period - Penta calculates and withholds the employee contribution, but it doesn't take the employer match deduction. The 'Frequency' for ALL deductions/reimbursements is set to '1' - once per period. Why doesn't Penta calculate the Match?
Applies To
Payroll > Setup > Deductions, Reimbursements, Other Compensation > Master Deductions
Resolution/Fix/Answer
The 'Frequency' setting in the Master Deduction setup screen only indicates which periods are eligible for the deduction to be taken, not necessarily that it will be taken every period.
There is another question on the Master Deduction screen that may be affecting this, since all of the checks are the same period. The question is: Deduct on Each Check in a Period?
This needs to be set to "Y" in order for the deduction to be taken on the second and all subsequent checks issued within the same payroll period.
