Change a User's OnBase Password so it Doesn't Get Out of Sync with PENTA for Windows

Change a User's OnBase Password so it Doesn't Get Out of Sync with PENTA for Windows

Issue/Symptom/Question

What is the correct way to update a user's OnBase password?

I changed the user's OnBase password with the OnBase configuration tool.

Now when using various functions in PENTA for Windows, the user is getting an error saying "Failed to connect to OnBase. Reason Unknown" .

Penta support techs tell me the user's OnBase password is out of sync with PENTA for Windows.

Applies To

  • PENTA for Windows

  • System Management > Security > Define Users

  • OnBase

Resolution/Fix/Answer

  1. Login to PENTA for Windows with an account that is part of an admin group

  2. Go to the Define Users Window

  3. Query the user that you want to update

  4. Click into the OnBase Password field

  5. Type in the new password and then hit TAB

  6. Type in the new password a second time and then hit TAB

  7. Click on the Close Window icon (This step actually initiates the password change)

Cause

  • The OnBase password has to be updated with the method above to keep the passwords in sync between PENTA for Windows and OnBase.

  • Updating the OnBase password directly in the OnBase configuration tool alone will cause the passwords to become out of sync.
