How do I save a grid layout?

Issue/Symptom/Question

I want to save a grid layout so I have it available every time I'm in a grid window. How is that accomplished?

Environment

Penta for Windows

Penta windows with Form View and Grid View Options

Resolution/Fix/Answer

There are certain windows in Penta, where you have the ability to view information using the Form View or the Grid View.

Windows with Form View/Grid View options, have the icons in the Navigation panel and are available to choose by doing the following:

Clicking on the Form View returns the below view of the records:

Clicking on the Grid View returns the below view of the records:

Using the - Penta for Window > Time/Equipment/Production Units Entry window as an example. to save a grid view of this window - follow the below steps:

Step 1: Click on the Grid View icon to have the tab display in a grid

Step 2: Right click on any column heading and click on Select Visible Columns... Select/Unselect visible columns to include only those columns you want displayed. 

Step 3: Once the grid fields are set up as needed, click on File > User Preferences > Grid > Save Current Layout:

Step 4: Name the current layout. Optionally, you can make the layout a public layout by checking the Public? box:

Once you exit the window, the layout will be saved. To load a saved layout, follow step 3 and click on Load Saved Layout.
