Resolution/Fix/Answer
Penta calculates Tax at the distribution level. With that being said: you won't be able to view potential tax accruals before you have entered distribution information (E.g. a Job, Overhead OU, Etc.) and because of that the ability to override tax accrual information is found on Distribution specific tab in the AP Invoice and Credit Memo entry screen (E.g. Job Tab, Account Tab, Etc.).
To override a given distributions Tax information:
- Navigate to the Distribution specific tab (E.g. Job Distribution, Account Distribution, Etc.)
- Enter the Distribution Information (E.g. Job Id, Cost Type, Cost Code)
- Enter the Distribution amount
- Select the "Tax Exemption" button at the bottom of the screen
Note: This will pop open a pop up titled: "TAX EXEMPT WINDOW - Distribution". If you need to make a distribution tax exempt, enter a value in the "Exempt Reason Code Field" (this value can be NA if you do not wish to track the exact reason something is exempt) - To view automatic tax accruals select the "Tax Jurisdictions" button on the Tax Exempt pop-up
- From the Tax Jurisdiction Pop-up you can change the Jurisdiction or Rate.
Note: You can either add a new jurisdiction by focusing on a blank line in the Jurisdiction box, or you delete the existing Jurisdiction by clicking on the existing jurisdiction then pressing the delete button
