What is an Estimate Key?
Issue/Symptom/Question
What is an Estimate Key in relations to Costcode and Estimate Entry?
Applies To
PENTA for Windows
Project Management > Estimates > Costcode & Estimate Entry
Resolution/Fix/Answer
An estimate key is used to identify a job estimate entry as a revision from the original estimate. The Estimate Key is added during Estimate Entry, it's used to display estimate revisions on reports and queries. There are four estimate keys, BUYOUTS, CORRECTIONS, INTERNAL TRANSFERS, and OPERATIONAL ADJUSTMENTS. Below is the screenshot of where to add the key during Costcode and Estimate Entry.
- Entering a Key associates the new estimate with a reason so that you can differentiate various types of changes in the estimate from the original estimateÂ
- Helps to group them on reports, specifically the Job Analysis Summary report
During Estimate entry, if the change request id or key are blank, Penta considers this entry an original estimate.
