What is the Job Category field used for in the Workers Classification window?

Issue/Symptom/Question

What is the Job Category field used for in the Workers Classification window? Today on our EEO Report we do not have this job category code.

Applies To

  • PENTA for Windows
  • Payroll > Setup > Pay Groups, Payroll Classes and Workers Compensation > Worker Classifications
  • EEO Reporting
  • EEO-1 Reports
  • U.S. Department of Labor, Form CC-257

Resolution/Fix/Answer

Job categories are defined by the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission), hard-coded in PENTA, and used for reporting.

Depending on how large and what type of company they will generate different reports for EEO Reporting.

The Job Category is a required field for some EEO reports, most specifically the EEO-1 Report

If a client is using a U.S. Department of Labor, Form CC-257 they may generate one of PENTA's Utilization reports (Crystal and/or Legacy) for their reporting.
