Edit Rule Configurations

Where can I view a list of all Edit Rules and their configurations?

Resolution/Fix/Answer
Other than the drop down list of values in the Chart of Accounts setup screen, these Edit Rule codes aren't listed in total as such.
Available Edit Rules:
- AP     Accounts Payable               Liability
- AR     Accounts Receivable             Asset
- BUDGET Budget Account          Â
- CASH   Cash Account                  Asset
- COGS   Cost of Goods Sold              Expense
- COS    Cost of Sales Account            Expense
- DEPR   Asset Depreciation              Asset (Contra)
- DEPREX Depreciation Expense Account     Expense
- EQASST Asset Account                  Asset
- EQCOST Asset Expense Account          Expense
- EQDISP  Asset Disposition Gain/Loss       Revenue
- INVEN   Inventory Account              Asset
- ORDER  Sales Order Revenue            Revenue
- PROG   Progress Billings Account        Asset
- SALES   Sales Account                 Revenue
- WIP     Work in Process Account         Asset
- WRNTY  Warranty Account              Expense
In broad terms, these rules link the GL accounts assigned the edit rules, to the Subledger detail information required for each type of account. Â
The PfW menu structure is designed to help identify screens that are used to charge these edit rule accounts; ie the Accounts Payable screens within this menu almost all require the subledger detail information to be entered on each screen as required fields, charging dollars to the AP Edit Rule GL Accounts.. Â
Most of the screens charging the edit rule accounts assign them automatically (based on default settings you identify elsewhere), and if you can override them, you can only do so with other accounts that have the same/similar edit rules.Â
An example of this is the Invoice and Credit Memo entry screen, the credit side of the charges entered will always go to an AP account of some sort.Â
The various tabs will allow you to determine the debit side of the entry, but not the AP side (other than another account that has an AP edit rule of course).
Note:Â There are other types of accounts that are identified for specific purposes that are not assigned Edit Rules, but are defined elsewhere to be restricted for only the purpose indicated;Â Â
- Retained Earnings
- Cost in Excess of Billings
- Billings in Excess of Cost
- Net Income
Related screens/modules that are used to define default edit rule accounts for each type of entry are:
- Organization Unit:Â AP and AR, and InterCompany accounts
- Payroll:Â Accrual and Expense Accounts, and Standard Charging expense and contra accounts
- Job Type/Cost Types:Â Job related Sales,Cost of Sales and Warranty accounts
- Asset Classes:Â Asset and Depreciation accounts, Defined Asset Cost (Expense), Income and Rental accounts
- Inventory Warehouse:Â Revenue accrual, PO Receipts accrual, Tax accrual, Adjustments, COGS
