Provincial Tax Information
Overview:
Use the Provincial Tax Information window to maintain accrual and expense accounts for payroll assessments (tax and insurance) levied at a provincial level. Also use it to maintain rates and exemptions specific to your organization for employer-paid provincial payroll assessments except workers’ compensation insurance (WCB). (Maintain WCB rates in the Workers’ Compensation Codes and Rates window.)
Accrual and expense accounts entered here are at the Balance Sheet OU level. These override default accrual and expense accounts entered at the Legal Entity level in the Canadian Payroll Accrual and Expense Accounts window for the same taxes.
PENTA calculates employer-paid Provincial Health and Education taxes for the province identified in the Health/Education Tax Province field in the Organizational Units window with rates and exemptions defined in this window. PENTA calculates WCB with rates and limits defined in the Workers’ Compensation Codes and Rates window. When calculating the Northwest Territories Payroll Tax, PENTA uses the rate encoded in the calculation process.
