Apply cash receipt to customers account

Issue/Symptom/Question

Customer has sent a check but either forgot to reference the invoice #, or issued a pre-payment where the invoice # isn't in the system yet. How do I record this cash receipt on the customer account to be used in the future?

Resolution/Fix/Answer

The Cash On Account tab can be used to apply the cash receipt on the customers account. This is useful when the customer prepaid and you want to receive the cash now, and post a credit to the customer's account/statement.

Use the same process as receiving cash when no invoice # was provided.

The only difference between this and a regular AR-related cash receipt, is that instead of applying the dollars received to a specific invoice #, you would apply the additional amount using the 'Cash On Account' tab. 

This will allow you to post a credit to the customer's account that you can use as an offset on a future cash receipt.
