Amount of Partial Disposal of Fixed Asset Not as Expected

Amount of Partial Disposal of Fixed Asset Not as Expected

Issue/Symptom/Question

One of our fixed assets does not appear correctly on the depreciation history report. The asset was fully depreciated, a portion was disposed. The asset was then refurbished and an additional dollar amount was added, this brings the asset to a  new basis amount. Book Method Depreciation Base is correct however, tax method depreciation is fully disposing instead of partially disposing.

Environment

Penta for Windows

Fixed Asset Management > Asset Information > Depreciation tab

Resolution/Fix/Answer

In order for Penta to calculate the partial disposal correctly, the Basis Value in the Depreciation tab needs to be null. Clearing the Basis Value and re-running depreciation will correct the partial disposal record.

Cause

On the fixed asset's Depreciation tab, the Basis Value needs to be null in order for the partial disposal to be correct.
