Why were Regular Hours Reclassified to OT?
Issue/Symptom/Question
44 hours were keyed into PENTA (40 as regular and 4 as OT). PENTA changed 2 Regular hours on the 5/11 Date to OT automatically, why?
Applies To
PENTA for Windows > Time Entry > Time/Equipment/Production Units Entry
Automated OT Rules
Initial Load of Payroll YTD or Manual Checks
Resolution/Fix/Answer
It should be noted that the Hours in PENTA are associated with an Hour Type:
R - Regular (Reg Time)
T - Time and a half (P1 Time)
D - Double Time (P2 Time)
Anywhere OT is mentioned in this article is the equivalent to T (Time and a Half). The Hour Type for O (from OT Splittings) is a specific, rarely used, Hour Type and does not apply to this situation. Hour Type O is used with OT splitting calculations where Hour Type O hours are reclassified based on OT Splitting rules.
In this instance, the Automated OT Rules include Hours Entered in from Payroll YTD initial loads and manual checks when determining the total amount of hours for a week or day. In the situation above, 43 hours were from a check date 5/11 Payroll YTD initial load. This means the 2 Regular Hours on 5/11 were uplifted to OT because 43 Regular hours existed with a 5/11 date.
