Workbench Report Bookmark Dates
Issue/Symptom/Question
Why do some workbench panels and reports treat date ranges differently when saving a report bookmark?
Applies To
Workbench Reporting Center Panel Report Bookmarks
Workbench Regular Panel Report Bookmarks
Resolution/Fix/Answer
There are 3 ways to classify a panel, and how it would use date ranges to generate a report.
1.) For any Reporting Center Panels, when saving a report bookmark, the begin and end dates are not retained as part of the bookmark parameters.Â
- This is because these report bookmarks can only be accessed from the reporting center itself, so they will take the date range defined there.
2.) For any Regular Workbench Panels where only the through date is used, the through date is not retained in the saved bookmark parameters.
- This is because most of the regular panels use the workbench through date, which updates everyday, and the through date is not defined in the panel parameters
3.) For any Regular Workbench Panels where a begin and end date are specified, then the date range is retained as part of the saved bookmark parameters.
- NOTE: This only applies to a few of the Payroll panels, because those focus on reporting data for specific time periods
- This is also because these reports can be accessed from the My Personal Reports panel, which does not define a date range. Since the through date cannot be used to regenerate the report bookmark, the date range is therefore retained.
Cause
When saving a bookmark for workbench reports, some bookmark parameter views show dates while others do not.
