Work Codes

Overview:

Work Codes are an additional field that can be used to track job cost transactions in addition to the cost type and costcode.  If you are using Work Codes, an additional data element will need to be keyed in the field as shown below. Instead of introducing a 4th data element to be keyed in the field, it is recommend to build in this additional attribute into your costcode structure, rather than introducing a new data field, whenever possible.


Required Job fields:

Without Work Codes:

    • Job Id
    • Cost Type
    • Costcode


With Work Codes

    • Job Id
    • Cost Type
    • Costcode
    • Work Code

Benefits:

  • Provide an additional data point in addition to the cost type and costcode for tracking information on job cost transactions
