Issue/Symptom/Question

How can I set up voluntary fringes in a payroll class so some employees receive a fringe benefit but others in the same level do not?

Applies To

  • PENTA for Windows
  • Payroll > Pay Groups, Payroll Classes and Workers Compensation > Payroll Classes
  • Payroll>Employees>Employee Fringe Benefit Authorization

Resolution/Fix/Answer

  1. Navigate to the Payroll Class window
    1. Query back the Payroll Class
    2. Update the ‘Req. Emp. Auth (Y/N)?” field to be ‘Y’ as shown below. When this field is set to ‘Y’, by default, employees assigned to this payroll class/pay rate combination will NOT have this fringe calculated
  2. Navigate to the Employee Fringe Benefit Authorization window
    1. Select an employee that is subject to this fringe from the list of values button.
    2. Enter the Payroll Class, Fringe Benefit Number, and check the fringe as ‘Authorized’. This employee is now authorized and will receive the fringe benefit
