Union Reciprocity Rules by Union Troubleshooting
Issue/Symptom/Question
Why do I not see an uplift in hourly pay in the hourly rate or as a separate amount when a union employee works on a job in a different union area?

Payroll > Setup > Pay Groups, Payroll Classes and Workers Compensation > Wage & Fringe Reciprocity - Rules by Union
Resolution/Fix/Answer
The setup for Union Reciprocity is extensive and any number of setup items can throw off an expected calculation. Please review the following setup and make sure the item(s) is not skewing the expected result.
- The Job being charged has the correct Union # assigned. Each Job can have one of each Trade Union assigned.
- The Wage & Fringe Reciprocity - Rules by Union have the correct settings for Wages, Add to Rates, and Fringes
- Wages - Use the Home Union, Work Union, or Prevailing
- For Prevailing PENTA executes a process to pay “the greater of the employee’s (Home union wage) or (Work union wage + Work benefits – Selected/Actual benefits paid)”
- Add-to-Rates - Home when Home, Home if no Work, or Always Home
- Fringes - Home or Work
- Make sure Fringe Exceptions were not setup in the popup that could provide different results than expected
- Wages - Use the Home Union, Work Union, or Prevailing
- Verify the Home Pay Rate # is mapped to a Work Pay Rate #. If it is not obvious (55 goes with 55) the Pay Rate #s might not have been mapped, which will skew expected results because the setup is not complete.
If the above situations are correct and the results are still not as expected, please log a service desk ticket and reference this Article. The above are the most common setup items that cause unexpected results. The Article will be updated as other situations are found.
