Applies To
PENTA for Windows
Project Management > Estimates > Costcode & Estimate Entry
Project Management > Change Management > Change Requests
Resolution/Fix/Answer
After an original estimate has been entered, PENTA will lock in the estimating method. There are three estimating methods that PENTA will accept:
- Lump Sum (and hours)
- Hours at Hourly Rate
- Units at Unit Cost
If the costcode was originally set up with the incorrect estimating method, follow the steps below to update the estimating method
NOTE: When changing the estimating method, PENTA will delete current estimates and you will need to rekey. Make sure to write down what the estimate needs to be after the adjustment so you have this information when re-establishing the estimate information
- Delete the cost type/costcode from the change request window (we will add it back later)
- In the Costcode & Estimate Entry window, highlight the cost type/costcode
- Click on Review/Modify Cost Estimate
- Click on Modify Estimating Method
- Chose the correct Estimating Method
- NOTE: This will delete all estimate amounts, hours, units, hourly rates, and unit cost information
- Close the window and re-enter the estimate information using the new estimating method
- In the Change Request window, add back the costcode that now has the correct estimating method, and proceed with entering the estimate information
