Using Workbench Role Based Templates
Issue/Symptom/Question
How to create, save, and assign workbench role based templates
Applies To
PENTA for Windows
PENTA Workbench
Role Based Templates
Resolution/Fix/Answer
Workbench templates make rolling out Workbench to your users easier by providing users with similar roles a pre-defined dashboard with applicable panels.
Add the SY: Workbench Roles & Assignments panel to your workbench
Using the 'Add Role' button, add all workbench roles that you plan on pushing out to end users
Save your current personal workbench to avoid having to recreate it
Customize your personal workbench panel to match a workbench role layout
Example: Add Accounts Payable and Purchasing workbench panels and tabs, remove all other tabs that do not apply to the Accounts Payable role based template
Save the new Workbench as a Role based template
On the SY: Workbench Roles & Assignments, click on Edit Users
Assign the newly created Role Workbench to the Users as needed
When complete, restore your personal saved Workbench
NOTE: Role Based Workbench Templates can only be pushed out to NEW PENTA users. If a PENTA user has already logged into the workbench, the role based workbench panel will not override their personal workbench panel. If you want to have a role based workbench template override a users personal workbench for a large group of users, please submit a Service Desk ticket and reference this article. Please provide the following information in your Service Desk ticket:
Database
User Id
