The federal fixed withholding field in the new federal block in the employee master does not work. If you put a $$ amount in that field, PENTA withholds zero. 

This employee is getting some retro type earnings.  I did not want her to get hit with a large FIT amount because of the size of the check.  I also do not want to run through the bonus screen because I don’t want it to show up in her earnings as bonus or on her check as a bonus.

Payroll Fixed W/H Amount

Resolution/Fix/Answer

When a fixed amount is entered for payroll withholding it is per period. The employee received a check in the pay period before the fixed amount was entered then in the same period another check was created after the fixed amount was entered. We did not use the fixed amount because it was not the first check in the period. 

Cause 

Fixed W/H Amount did not calculate correctly because the check was not the first check in the pay period.
