How do I enter an employee who opts out of the Washington Long Term Care tax?

Issue/Symptom/Question

An employee has submitted to opt out of the Washington Long Term Care tax (WA-LTC), how do I update PENTA to no longer withhold this tax?

Resolution/Fix/Answer

Just like all other taxes, you can tell PENTA an employee is exempt in the Employee Payroll Information window > Federal W/H tab or State W/H tab > Tax Exempt Status button. Then just enter WA for the state and LTC for the tax type. The employee is now exempt from the tax and it will not be calculated or withheld.
