Overview:

The Security Group is the mechanism to group similar Users together to control the security permissions in PENTA.  There are two common approaches to security groups, role based or functional access based.  Role based would have a group defined for the Controller, AP Clerk, Payroll Manager, etc., and the individual user Id is assigned to the Role.  Functional access based is a group that means the individual needs to do something in PENTA.  A group is created for Invoice Entry, running Inquiries, running AP Reports, creating fixed assets, etc., and then that group with that functionality is assigned to the user Id.  New customers receive functional groups by default, however, they can be deleted so Roles can be created if desired.

Benefits:

  • Create unique varieties of groups to meet the organization needs, all organizations are different
