Issue/Symptom/Question
Email is no longer sending after October 1st, 2022 due to Microsoft deprecating Basic Authentication for Office 365.
Applies To
Partners that use Office365/ Exchange Online to to host the email account used by Penta.
Resolution/Fix/Answer
SMTP Authentication, the method Penta uses to send email through the O365 Tenet, is still allowed as part of Microsoft decision to deprecate Basic Authentication for Office 365 as of October 1st, 2022. This does require that MS Security defaults for the Tenet is disabled.
The following is still required for the account that Penta uses for emails.
SMTP Authentication is Enabled. Microsoft article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/clients-and-mobile-in-exchange-online/authenticated-client-smtp-submission
MFA is disabled.
Alternatively, this can be setup using an Exchange Connector. For more information, review option 3 in the following article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/mail-flow-best-practices/how-to-set-up-a-multifunction-device-or-application-to-send-email-using-microsoft-365-or-office-365
